June 2010. Our Fourth Annual Scholarship Presentation |
The presentation was made by Senator Allan H. Kittleman (District 9).
David Burgy is a recent graduate of Swarthmore College with bachelor’s degrees in engineering and political science. David attended River Hill High School. There he served as the leader of the school’s Gay Straight Alliance, became active in PFLAG-Howard County, and was selected as a PFLAG National Scholar in 2006. After high school, he continued his involvement with the LGBT community by co-leading the Swarthmore College Queer Straight Alliance.
This fall, David will attend Rutgers for a master’s degree in city and regional planning. Through planning and policy work, he seeks to collectively mobilize and engage underrepresented voices in planning processes. In doing so, he will serve as an organizer for progressive community change and continue to broaden understanding of the ways in which the LGBT community and other communities are connected.
In presenting the scholarship, Sen. Kittleman said he "hopes David returns to Howard County after receiving his Masters Degree to apply his planning skills here."

Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month beginning
at 7:30 PM at the
